Banned Books Week 2012 Giveaway Hop
It is once again that time when the ALA releases a list of the most challenged books of that year. Librarians, teachers, bloggers, writers, and readers celebrate banned books week because we believe in intellectual freedom and freedom of expression.
For many of us, books open doors and provide us with different perspectives. Books cause us to think, to question, to imagine, to dream. Books let us know we are not alone, they allow us to escape to fantastical places, to find inspiration.
Those who would ban books want to limit the access of others to new ideas and literary escapes. Mind you, there is a great difference in being an educated reader or a parent making a decision about what your child is ready to read and asking for a shop or library to remove a book from the shelves because you disagree with its content.
This banend books week, we celebrate the readers. I'm giving away a $15 Amazon gift card so you can choose the next book you want to lose yourself in. Good luck and happy reading.
