I never tire of the Manhattan skyline
Last week, I trekked across the Hudson to participate in Book Expo America (BEA). This is my forth trip to BEA, but the first time I've participated in the Blogger Conference. Blogger Con was on Monday, June 4 and featured a keynote speech by Jennifer Weiner and closing remarks by Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess). Both Jennifer Weiner and Jenny Lawson were absolutely hilarious and awesome speakers--I could have listened to them both for hours. In between, there was author breakfast & lunch (sort of like speed-dating authors) and workshops. The best thing about the whole conference was getting to meet bloggers I've been following online for a while. Everyone was so nice and we shared quite a few laughs.
Special day one shout-outs go to my table buddies (and awesome bloggers): Cecelia of Adventures of Cecelia Bedelia, Grace from Words Like Silver, Steph of The Fake Steph Dot Com, Nikki of Wicked Awesome Books, and Emily of Red House Books. I also got to (finally) meet the amazing Jenn of Jenn's Bookshelves (an all around great person and one of my blogging heroes.)

Line at Harlequin Teen Day 1
The next three days were a whirlwind of author signings, networking, and waiting on lines. I met so many awesome people in my three days at BEA. Cecelia and I continued to cross paths, and I was thankful to see a familiar face on the floor because the crowds can be a bit overwhelming. There were many other kind and awesome bloggers--I wish I could remember everyone. In general, waiting in lines was a great time to meet new people and talk books--what could be better? The only negative experience I had was being pushed by a woman who thought I was trying to cut in the Rachel Ray line (for the record: I had no idea Rachel Ray was even in that aisle, I was trying to find Michael Ian Black).

My new TBR pile . . .

OMG! Look at all that eye candy of books! BZRK, Pushing the Limits, etc....pure heaven in a pile.
ReplyDeleteTYTYTY for the favor and I am stalking my post man this week! LOL
It is heaven in a pile--and these are just the ones I kept. I sent a box to you, a stack to one of my friends, and I have another stack going to my classroom library. I'm sure the hubs will want me to get some of these out of the house after I'm done, which means there's sure to be some more shared. I really hope you enjoy the titles I sent you :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your post - Its fun to see the books you got and I am all "what! I didnt see that there!" :D
